Our client a leading Geotechnical Consultancy offers a comprehensive service in ground technology. Their geotechnical reputation is built on the skills, excellence and commitment in all aspects of geotechnical engineering. They have an impressive current portfolio of prestigious geotechnical projects in the UK and internationally. They need to increase their resources to meet the growing demands from clients, especially in the energy sector, which includes offshore and onshore oil & gas, renewable energy (wind, current and hydro-power), low carbon engineering and nuclear power. Due to further success, they are now recruiting for a Geotechnical Engineer based in the North West to strengthen their technical expertise. Our Client encourages participation in all forms of training and has an active programme of in-house and external training.

The Role
The purpose and remit of the Geotechnical Engineer role:-
* Provide the knowledge and confidence our clients need when developing construction projects
* Undertake studies and design investigations for brownfield and greenfield sites
* Prepare geotechnical and environmental assessments
* Provide the impact of construction on surrounding infrastructure as appropriate to suit project specific requirements
* Analyse issues such as vertical and horizontal ground movements (subsidence, heave, landslip, desiccation)
* Carry out analysis and modelling aided by the use of computer software packages
* Undertake investigations, such as those required to determine the causes of structural damage or slope instability
* Provide recommendations on suitable economic foundation options inc design and construction, ground stabilisation and improvement techniques and their likely performance
* Give geotechnical information needed for a given project by providing specifically designed solutions

The Candidate
The Geotechnical Engineer experience and qualifications:-
* Proven track record of technical work and project delivery
* Excellent technical skills are required relevant to work in the energy sector
* Experience of geotechnical work in the energy sector is desirable if the key transferrable skills can be demonstrated
* Strong academic background with a relevant degree (ideally MSc or equivalent)
* Approaching Chartered status
* Proven experience of acting as a geotechnical engineer in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment
* Excellent interpersonal and technical skills
* Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients
* Good commercial track record in negotiating and running successful jobs
* Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work
* Flair for innovation
* Willingness to travel on short assignments both within the UK and overseas
* Driving licence

The Reward
